On my free time, I like to learn about new tecnologies or improve my overall coding skills. To that purpose, I sometimes create basic applications with the newest technology I am currently learning, or I code card games with plain old Javascript and improve my coding patterns and architecture.

This is a basic CRUD application that I have coded using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, Node and React). It's a prototype of a finance-tracking application, where you can enter and delete amounts for what you have spent and what you have earned. The application is connected to a mongo database where all the information is stored. If you click on the tables, you can see the details of the entries, by year, by month and by day.

The main feature of the website for the eyes of a web developer is the restaurants page, which presents the chef's three restaurants. It's a fully interactive page that relies heavily on scroll interactions. With a zest of object-oriented programming, the page seamlessly flows from one section to the next.

Client

Anton Schmaus is an international chef whose roots are in Bavaria. He owns three restaurants (one of which has been awarded by Michelin) and he is the head chef of the German national football team since 2017.

These sliding animations showcase the website's mechanism. The link to the website is down below...

For an unique user experience, I have disabled the browser's scroll and coded in custom scroll events with JavaScript & JQuery. The end result is a fluid and interactive (but completely artificial) user experience. The design & production of this website are credited to...

Mazzucchelli 1849 is a manufacturing enterprise whose focus is on tradition and craftsmanship. They produce semi finished plastic materials for all industries.

Work done

The website has been built with the Shopify e-commerce platform. Even though I didn't built it myself, I am now working with the development team in charge of its maintenance and improvement. This means that in addition to repairing out-of-date code, we are also periodically adding new features to the store: e.g. back end generated wishlists, front end design of customer authentication, new products and pages, etc... One of these improvements is the discovery page, where I have coded several interactions and animations which are triggered by the scroll event. As one scrolls down, the contents of the page shape into view or slide out of sight, creating an engaging user experience.

My name is Luke, I am a web developer.

I primarily focus on front end technologies for responsive, browser-compatible, graphically-rich web applications. I enjoy working on projects in which I can translate the UX/UI design into efficient and well-structure programming, where the look of the web application is just as important as how it works.

I am currently employed by a PaaS consulting company in Barcelona. I work on the front end of a web application that handles and computes the internal operations of banks, insurance companies and law firms.

I also work as a freelance for a graphics studio based in Bavaria. This website showcases the work I have most recently done with them.

The technologies I use:

  1. Languages: HTML5, CSS3, ECMAScript 6
  2. Libraries: NPM, React, JQuery, SASS
  3. Workflow: Node, Gulp, JSON, AJAX
  4. Version control: Git

(This e-commerce is temporarily closed as the company is under reform. I took away the main programmed features of the store and left it with the strict minimum (so there isn't much to see unfortunately). The store should hopefully be back soon!)

ClientOrthuber & Partner is an engineering firm based in Bavaria. They are composed of a small team of engineers and designers. They work in all areas of a construction project, from structural design to civil engineering and building.

Work doneThe website, by design, is quite simple. The pages are synonymous and the design minimalist, which echoes the spirit behind the company's structural concepts. What makes the website a bit more exciting is the fact that it relies heavily on scroll interaction.

On the scroll event, and with the help of JavaScript and JQuery, I programmed the elements to have different animations and opposite reactions. For instance, some elements are pinned down while others scroll away, creating somewhat of a parallax effect. And for the responsive part, the lack of space and the different HTML/CSS layout required my program to be very flexible.

Fair wohnen, which translates to "fair living", is the concept behind several infrastructure projects that are taking place in the city of Regensburg, Bavaria. The website showcases the different buildings under construction and the several styles of apartments available for purchase or rent. It is a "fair living" project because these homes are meant for the elder generation and for households of moderate means. For that reason, the city hall of Regensburg is providing subsidies for those who are eligible to live there.

I've participated from the start in the development of this website. To present the apartments, we have used a MySQL database together with some PHP back end code to generate templates which display the data over several pages. We are also currently programming an online survey that users can complete to determine if they are eligible to apply for the government subsidies.

This website is an one-pager composed of five different sections. With JavaScript, I allow the user to jump rapidly from one section to the other. And together with CSS3, multiple animations can be seen throughout the website on user interaction.

Once coded, we transferred the code onto Wordpress so that the client can change at ease the text, and add new press releases to the news sections. Also, to save loading time, all images and svgs are loaded asynchronously.
